How to block websites in Safari on iPhone and iPad

If you have children with iPhones or iPads, or you frequently use yours, and you want to control the type of content you can access while browsing the Web in Safari, you’re in luck – Apple lets you do just that. If you want to automatically limit all adult content to prevent a child accidentally hitting a link that they should not, blacklist specific websites, or if they interrupted all sites except for those specifically whitelisted, you’ll find everything you need In the Settings and Restrictions. How to blacklist specific content or sites in Safari for iPhone and iPad

If you are not too worried and just want to try to prevent your kids hitting links that take them to adult material, or that there are only a few sites that you want to make sure you never land in, you can use the automatic settings and list feature Black

  1. Start the setup application from the home screen.
  2. Tap General .
  3. Touch Restrictions .
  4. Tap Enable Restrictions . If it is already on, go to step 6.
  5. Enter a 4 digit password that your children will not be able to guess.
  6. Enter your password again for confirmation. 
  7. Tap websites under allowed content .
  8. Click on content limit age
  9. Tap Add a website under NEVER PERMIT .
  10. Type the URL of the website you want to block in the field Website.
  11. Tap Done

Repeat this process for each site you want to block access to. Note that if certain websites have mobile sites , you may have to block separately. For example, to block CrackBerry completely, which is needed to block www.crackberry.com , m.crackberry.com , and t.crackberry.com because the sites have been specified for tablets, smartphones and full blown browsers.

If you find a site not blocking after included it in its list of restricted websites, visit that site and look at the address bar in Safari to ensure that it is blocking the correct URL. Copy it if necessary and paste it into restrictions.

 

How to block all and whitelist only specific sites in Safari for iPhone and iPad

For very young children, or if you simply want to make sure that nothing is accessible, except what is specifically allowed, you can turn everything off and only then back off on sites that you consider absolutely permissible. (Like Apple or Disney).
