How to manually activate an iCloud backup

How to Enable iTunes Backups

If you do not want to store device backups on iCloud, you can store them locally on your computer instead. How to back up an iPhone or iPad:

  1. Connect the device to your computer.
  2. Open iTunes .
  3. Click the device icon next to the drop – down menu category in the left side of the iTunes window.
  4. Select Summary sidebar.
  5. Select This computer automatically under backup.
  6. Check the box to encrypt local backup to ensure that your passwords, health, and the data is copied HomeKit.You will need to create a password to protect your encrypted backups. The password is automatically stored on a keychain.
  7. Click Done when finished. 

 

How to back up your iPhone or iPad manually through iTunes

If you have enabled iTunes backups, the device will back up automatically when you connect to your computer. You can also manually copy your iPhone or iPad if you want to make a new backup while it is connected.
